Who is Greater Than?
Greater Than is a driving data analytics company that specialises in understanding driver impact on the roads. Through the power of artificial intelligence (AI), Greater Than converts GPS data into driver scores that predict crash probability and climate impact. Greater Than was founded in 2004, is listed on Nasdaq in Sweden, and has operations across the globe.
How does Greater Than's technology work?
Greater Than uses AI pattern profiling to identify patterns in driving as a result of driver attitude and decisions made. Pattern profiling in driver crash probability works in a similar way to facial recognition. Instead of comparing data to a database of known faces, it compares it to a database of known trips that resulted in a crash. Its database has identified over 7 billion different ways to drive a vehicle and which ways that has a high probability of ending up in a crash. This extensive insight enables us to identify patterns in data to assess the impact driver attitude has on crash probability. Because the database is trained with real-world trips involving actual crashes, it can match driver attitude and decisions to their impact crash probability. This means that, as well as providing a crash-score, Greater Than also quantifies the impact on energy consumption.
What are some key numbers?
  • The AI measures approximately 3.6 billion data sets per hour. This is around 24,000,000 more times per hour than traditional measuring of road safety. The result is a DriverDNA that condenses the data into one solid number for crash probability.
  • Driver data is processed and verified from more than 106 countries and 1,600 cities.
  • The experience is equivalent to 855,000 man-years of driving
  • The AI has discovered over 7 billion unique DriverDNAs.
What is telematics?
Telematics is a method of monitoring vehicles by using GPS technology and on-board diagnostics to monitor your fleet in real-time and provide vital data trends related to vehicle safety, driving habits and fuel consumption.
How does data analytics work?
GPS data is sent via an API to process and convert it into crash probability. We will liaise with your telematics provider to connect all your data to understand your driver scores and ultimately provide you with fairer insurance premiums. If you prefer, we can connect you with our telematics partners.
How do I connect my telematics?
We will liaise with your telematics provider to connect all your data to understand your driver scores and ultimately provide you with fairer insurance premiums. If you prefer, we can connect you with our telematics partners.
Does Fuse Fleet provide telematics services?
We provide access to our Fuse Fleet App, which provides the Crash Probability Scoring. We also work with your existing telematics partner or introduce you to a leading telematics partner tailored to your fleet requirements.
How does it work if I don't have a telematics provider and I'm interested in behaviour-based insurance?
Fuse Fleet provides access to our own Fuse Fleet App, which provides the Crash Probability Scoring. As long as the fleet commits to using the App, they can proceed with cover. We can also help introduce telematics companies; dependent upon the fleet size and distribution, connections can vary.
How is data being transferred?
Trip data is sent via your telematics provider and the trip is analysed and given a crash-score.
What is a crash-score?
It is a score that is based on similarities in driver behaviour and attitude, that has led to real crashes.
What data is used to calculate crash-score?
Per-second GPS data is used to calculate the score, meaning we use longitude, latitude, altitude, speed, heading and time. The data is captured via any device and processed by AI to calculate the score and sent back to the management portal.
How can you calculate a crash-score using just GPS data?
Greater Than’s AI identifies a micro pattern in driving by extracting over 500 different values out of GPS data. This creates a digital “finger print” of each driver, what we refer to as a DriverDNA. In the database of over 7 billion unique DriverDNAs, the AI identifies look a like driving patterns and the patterns' crash probability. Greater Than’s database is trained with real crashes to understand the type of impact that driving attitude and decisions have on crash probability.
Does this work for passenger cars as well as light commercial vehicles?
Yes
How can Fuse help you?
  • In partnership with Greater Than, we help you select drivers for training in order to make sure the action is optimised for accident reductions and providing a solid return on investment.
  • By selecting the drivers that show the highest crash probability, you also ensure that the optimal number of accidents are prevented.
  • By develop drivers and preventing accidents, driver well-being is also improved.
  • When using the assistance of the tool, you also get feedback on efficiency of training and what kind of training that has the biggest impact on accident preventions.
  • As a rule of thumb, we identify 15% of the drivers that cause 50% of the accidents.
What have other companies accomplished?
In summary, less crashes and improved driver well-being. Three examples include:
  • A fleet in UK, operating in the heavy trucking segment with approximately 1,000 drivers reduced driver turn over from 12% to 5.5% in less than 8 months.
  • A last mile delivery operation in Sweden with approximately 1,400 drivers reduced from 22 down to 12 accidents per month in less than 9 months.
  • A van subscription fleet of around 9,000 vehicles managed to arrange dynamic per km insurance pricing, improving cash flow and reduces cost by 7%.

How does it work if my customer doesn't have a telematics provider but is interested in behaviour-based insurance?
Fuse Fleet provides access to our own Fuse Fleet App, which provides the Crash Probability Score. As long as the fleet commits to using the App, they can proceed with cover. We can also help introduce telematics companies; dependent upon the fleet size and distribution, connections can vary.
What's the difference between behaviour-based insurance and usage-based insurance?
Behaviour-based insurance (BBI) and usage-based insurance (UBI) are types of insurance that are related to driver behaviour. A summarised way to differentiate them is that BBI analyses the driving behaviour of a driver while UBI focuses on the amount of time a driver spends behind the wheel.

What is ESG?
ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance.
  • Environment includes everything connected with an organisation’s environmental impact, including transport, energy usage and carbon emissions.
  • Social refers to an organisation’s wider societal impact, incorporating factors such as employee well-being, company culture and community involvement.
  • Governance refers to how the business operates, including policies, reporting, transparency, and accountability.
In the same way that financial KPIs might be used to measure a company’s performance, ESG looks at how a company performs in terms of environmental and social matters.
Why is ESG reporting crucial for businesses?
ESG reporting provides more than just regulatory compliance. It offers businesses a strategic advantage by demonstrating their commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. For fleet management companies, the benefits include:
  • Sustainability Improvements – Identify and address inefficiencies in routes and driver behaviours to reduce emissions.

  • Emissions data.
  • Safety performance.
  • Reduction targets.
  • Contributions to global sustainability goals.
  • Negative impacts on sustainability – and how you will manage them.
  • Ongoing performance.
This is a very simplified list of requirements that are likely to be common to all companies. See specific legislation for detailed requirements.
What are the benefits to ESG reporting?
ESG reporting not only helps organisations to be legally compliant; it also delivers many additional benefits. These include:
  • Transparency around safety and sustainability efforts.
  • Employee well-being.
  • Employee performance.
  • Customer satisfaction.
  • Investor satisfaction.
  • Brand awareness.
  • Company profile.
  • Financial performance.
  • Competitive advantage.
